
Dr. Ira Zunin, MD, MPH
During much of the past twenty years, Ira has been actively engaged in creating a synthesis between modern and traditional medicine. Ira earned his medical degree from the UCLA School of Medicine. He completed a residency in Preventive Medicine in Hawaii and also earned a Master�s Degree in Public Health. After further experience in the field, he earned Specialty Board Certification in General Preventive Medicine and Public Health and has served as Assistant Clinical Professor at the School of Public Health at the University of Hawaii.
Ira also spent several years studying Tibetan medicine in India and Nepal, and has received training in Traditional Chinese Medicine. He is a physician acupuncturist, a member of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture, and was appointed by the Governor to the Hawaii State Board of Acupuncture.
Ira specializes in general, preventative and occupational medicine. He offers particular expertise in areas such as chronic pain and musculoskeletal problems, diabetes, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, obesity, asthma, allergy problems, and adjunctive treatments for cancer care.
In addition to his practice at Manakai O Malama, Ira lectures locally, nationally and internationally on a variety of aspects of health and wellness with a particular focus on integrative medicine. He is frequently featured on radio, television and in the newspaper, and also consults for the hospital, insurance and retail sectors.
