Acupuncture is a component of Traditional Chinese Medicine and has been practiced in China for nearly 5,000 years. It seeks to restore the proper flow of qi or life energy in the body by stimulating certain points with acupuncture needles. Meridian lines are believed to be energy pathways along which an individual’s life force flows. It is thought that each meridian connects to one or more organ systems that govern particular bodily functions. When there is an imbalance of qi in a meridian so that qi is stagnant or blocked, illness results. By applying needles to certain points along the meridian lines, acupuncture seeks to restore equilibrium and health by correcting the flow of qi.
Chiropractic medicine focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system, nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health. Chiropractic care is used to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints such as back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches. Our chiropractors use the technique called spinal manipulation or chiropractic adjustment which aims at restoring joint mobility, and correcting spinal misalignment, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness.
